Honor
Blackman werd geboren in Londen op 22 augustus 1925. Honor dankt haar
acteercarrière aan haar vader. Op haar zestiende verjaardag
bood
Music and Drama'.
'The Blind Goddess' in 1947.
Vroege
carrière
Haar eerste film volgde in 1947, een niet-sprekende rol in 'Fame is the Spur'
met Michael
Redgrave.
(1948), 'Quartet'
(1948), 'A
Boy, a Girl and a Bike' (1949), 'So Long at the
Fair' (1950) met Dirk
Bogarde en 'Green
Grow the Rushes' (1951) met een jonge Richard Burton. In Hollywood werd
ze gecast aan de zijde van Elizabeth
Taylor in MGM's 'Conspirator'
(1949).
televisieseries waaronder 'The Vise', 'Douglas Fairbanks Jr Presents', 'The New
Adventures of Charlie Chan', 'African Patrol', 'The Invisible Man', 'The
Pursuers', 'Kraft Mystery Theatre' en 'The Saint'
met Roger Moore.
Eind jaren 1950 kreeg ze weer betere rollen aangeboden onder meer in 'A Night to
Remember' (1958) met Kenneth
More en David McCallum
en in de Norman
Wisdom komedie 'The
Square Peg' (1959).
De Wrekers - The Avengers
In 1962 bood Leonard White
haar de rol van Cathy Gale
aan in 'The Avengers'
welke situatie haar mannetje staan. Cathy Gale werd een inspiratiebron
voor de feministische beweging in de jaren 1960.
Latere
James Bond film 'Goldfinger'
(1964). Producent Albert
R. Broccoli
gezien. Broccoli zei: "The Brits would
love her
because they knew her as Mrs. Gale, the Yanks would like her because
she was so good, it was a perfect combination".
speelde een rol in 'Life
at the Top' (1965) met Laurence
Harvey en 'Shalako' (1968) met
Brigitte Bardot
echtgenoot Maurice
Diary', 'Dr
Terribles House Of Horror', 'New
Tricks', 'Midsommer
Murders', 'The
Royal' en 'Coronation
Street'. Van 1987 tot 2006 speelde ze vier one-woman shows
over het gehele land ('The Life and Times of Yvette Guilbert',
Samen
adopteerden ze twee kinderen, Lottie en Barnarby. Het echtpaar scheidde
in 1975, maar bleef goede vrienden.
Honor Blackman overleed op 6 april 2020 in haar huis in Lewes, Sussex,
omringd door haar familie.
