"The Heart Of The Serpent" will be the second book in the Odoric Saga. The story takes place before and after the epilogue of "The Wall Of Doom". When Payches-Ra conquered the Pictish tribes and forced them to fight at his side, there was only one tribe that was able to withstand his attacks. Even the mighty Quilainn-Haloch, the elite Pictish guard of Payches-Ra, feared this tribe...
They were called "Shaymiri" and lived in the ancient city "Cainnthüra". This was the only city that was known to exist in "Uzza Hathor", the dark woods...
At the beginning of the story, the Shaymiri send a contingent of elite warriors to the borders of their territory to find out how many of Payches-Ra's troops are heading their way. Amongst them is a girl named "Khargin".
When the Shaymiri are ambushed by the Eastern troops, they are forced to retreat. Soon they are being hunted down and killed off by a "Dachnak", one of Payches-Ra's personal guards. When all seems lost and Khargin, who witnessed the horrible death of one of her brothers, is about to be slain by the Dachnak, a mysterious warrior appears. In a breathtaking duel he slays the Dachnak and rescues the Shaymiri. This warrior is of course Odoric!
After the final attack on the wall ( as seen at the end of "The Wall Of Doom" ), Odoric went into the woods to seek out Payches-Ra. The Shaymiri however seem to recognize Odoric... although that should be impossible. According to Khargin, Odoric is the legendary "Abbatthür"... a mysterious warrior of an ancient race who would come to help the Shaymiri in their darkest hour... Now Odoric has an ally against Payches-Ra. However, he has seen Red troops marching towards Cainnthüra... As fast as they can, the Shaymiri warriors who survived the ambush march back to their city... only to find that it is being attacked already. The battle for Cainnthüra has begun...
