Hawkmoon

To begin with, this is a sketch of Hawkmoon's face... I did this while I was reading "The Jewel in The Skull". I was wondering about how the juwel would look in fact... It reads that the jewel is woven or something. So how does that look exactly? I didn't want to overdo it, so here's what I came up with.

Still just a rough design though...

Flamelance

The flamelance seems to be a cool weapon, so it's one of those inspiring details...

I'm still not sure how it should look exactly, because my initial ideas were all very similar to the weapon that's being used in Stargate. In fact, I think that's one of the only things that comes close to how I imagined it. Anyway, what I used is the ruby tip in the center, with two blades lef t and right. The blades still make it a dangerous weapon, even if it's power isn't used, and they protect the valuable ruby as well.

Baron Meliadus

Baron Meliadius is one of the characters that I really like to illustrate. He is a very powerful adversary ( reminding me of the kind of  foe that Thulsa Doom was in Conan The Barbarian ). He killed Hawkmoon's father, captured Hawkmoon and put the jewel in his head. So he's very important. However, it is not easy to illustrate the wolf mask without making it look ridiculous. The mask should be powerful and evil... In fact, I am still not satisfied about my designs for the beast-masks. They should look very frightening, and not just like animal's heads.

Below you can see a rough design for a mask of  the Order of the Boar... I'm still working on others..

Hawkmoon II

This version of Hawkmoon is a little less static than the first design. He looks fierce, and ready for battle.... Maybe in black and white he looks like Elric, so I did a coloured version as well... 

It's just a rough sketch in order to get something on paper that I can improve upon....

At the moment ( February 18th, 2002 ) I'm designing a CD-cover for a Heavy Metal band from the 80's ( It's a release of an old record on CD ). The record company is giving me complete freedom, so I've chosen to use this opportunity to paint my own versions of  Hawkmoon, Corum and Elric. Below you can see a rough conceptual design :

Here's the design that I did for the Hawkmoon advertisement that was meant to be included on the last page of  Corum.... Almost forgot all about it ! It's actually more like a rough sketch... the arm still doesn't look right to me... But what's most important about this design are the towers in the background. I should do them in more detail though, to get it right, but that's how I imagined the firing towers...

I'm planning on putting more designs and thoughts on this page whenever I've been able to do some, or whenever I have some inspiration.
