Dai Nippon (Originally MIKADO KWAI) was founded at Liedekerke in 1975, by teacher R. Noens. Afterwards J. Dewilde replaced the teacher. Both men came from Ghent. The helping trainee was Demesmaeker François, giving training sessions from 1975 on. While teaching he trained in Ghent for his black belt. In 1977 he took complete control over the club. The style we practice is the SHOTOKAN style.
The Japanese National trainer, Hirohara, gave us the name of our club. Since 1975 the club has come a long way, as well as Karate. The club is now known in the complete Karateworld. A whole lot of members have already learned Karate with us, some of them obtained the Black Belt, others gave up after a while. At this moment we have formed already 58 Black Belts and are still forming others. Due to our profound youth training we also have black belts at the age of 14. This ensures the future of our club. We see to it that the training and guides stay on a high level. Therefore we follow courses ourselves on a very regular basis.
