A commission in the Guards can be offered to any officer of the Allied-Dutch Army.
It may be refused, provided that it is the individual officer's decision and not the result of pressure
from other officers of the corps or division. Before a commission can be offered the following criteria must be met,
although they do not guarantee a Guards commission:
- Skill: 10 victory points
- Determination: 250 total points
- Consistency: must have been an active member of the army for at least one year
- Commitment: involvement over and above simple game play (for example "active" command of a brigade/division/corps or an adjutant or web page administrator etc)
Players that win twice as often as they lose, may be asked earlier to become members of the guards then others.
Guards officers must sign up to a Guards code. They must muster every month without recourse to reminders.
Guards must be available as trainers if required and must also be available for other duties as considered suitable by Allied High Command.
Failure to abide by these rules will result in dismissal unless authorised by the Guard Commander.
You can not simply join the guards, you will be asked by Army command (the Commander in Chief, the Chief of staff and the Guard commander).
Guard posts are "awards" only, it is not a field command. Besides these guard commissions all officers still hold regular field commissions as well. Guards are allowed to use the blue 'Guard badge" (see above) in their communications.
If you have any question, ask Generaal
Marco Rietveld, the Guard commander.
