The property is situated on a country lane midway the quiet villages of Marval and Abjat, far away from the hustle and bustle. The area is famed for the natural beauty and the wealth of lakes, streams and forests, dotted with picturesque villages. A supermarket and small shops, bakers etc. are nearby (3km). Most local towns have a weekly market to browse around. Within a short distance are several leisure lakes offering swimming and many facilities. Tennis, horse riding, canoeing, bicycle hire...  all possible in close proximity. The region is renowned for its typical French cuisine and some marvellous restaurants are nearby.  

Chez Courtaud  is an excellent base for exploring the Dordogne region. This touristic 'département' contains many lovely places of interest: Brantôme, Bourdeilles, Beynac, Lascaux, Domme, Les Eyzies, Sarlat... The three capital cities Limoges, Angoulême and Périgueux are within an hours drive.

The Studio

A very cosy, stone built cottage ideal for a couple (+ child).  Sitting room with single bed, breakfast bar, kitchen corner. Bedroom with double bed, en-suite shower room with basin and wc.  Private south-facing terrace with views over woodland.

The Stable
 Sleeps 4

The converted stone stable is situated at the south east corner of the property. Charming cottage with sunny sitting room with comfortable five foot fold-down bed and corner kitchen. Bedroom with twin beds. Bathroom with bath, basin and wc. Secluded terrace with views over woodland.

The Barns, 1 & 2
Each sleeps 5

Two identical houses converted from part of the large Périgordine barn. Ground floor: two spacious bedrooms, one double, one twin. Shower room with basin and wc. Stairs to first floor: spacious landing, large kitchen/dining room with sitting-corner. Doors to roof terrace offering views over the woodland.

Worth knowing:

The owner is on hand in the main house for any advice you may require.

Road to Chez Courtaud:

ON THE RING ROAD around PARIS:  follow Bordeaux and via A6 to: Either Orléans motorway A20 (péage) to Limoges, or Orléans 'Route Nationale' 20 and via Vierzon and Châteauroux to Limoges.

From LIMOGES: ring around city to N21 → Périgueux and via  Aixe-sur- Vienne to Châlus. 

From CHÂLUS: via Dournazac → Pensol → Marval (church-left!) → Abjat → 3,5 km to Chez Courtaud . 

From ANGOULÊME: D699 Montbron → D6 Piégut → Marval → Abjat (sign on your right!) > Chez Courtaud.
