Tom Van Dyck & t-unit4

Tom Van Dyck & t-unit4 After years of arranging and organizing, the need has emerged to get to less complex ways of playing together. He wants to get faster to the point where all masks fall off, safe paths are left behind … More space for improvisation and 'arranging-on-the-spot', confident that whatever musical actions will lead to unexpected beautiful results. For this quartet Tom wrote a repertoire that will be easy accessible to the jazz amateur. This doesn't mean: trying to find other ways, but: telling intense, creative, and interesting stories within a more classic setting of 'a rhythm section with a hornplayer'. Such would not be possible without his 'dream team': well-known in his own country, the acoustic and electric bass player from Amsterdam, Mark Haanstra, the Belgian drummer with a deep jazz-experience Herman Pardon, and one of the most talented young piano players of Belgium, Ewout Pierreux. These were the musicians that were featured in the t-unit7 project. Tom Van Dyck has played with them in various settings: duo's, trio's, big bands, groups led by others … . It's this special bond you will undoubtedly experience in the precious music they create together. |
