We regulary cut the cords of Toby and Terry's feet. We do this for different reasons. If the cords are too long, they step on them and that hurts a lot. If we walk in the rain, the cords 'sip' a lot of water. On slippery surfaces they slip. Hair between the toes can felt which is also painfull. As you can see, there are enough reasons to get cutting.

We cut their feet from childhood while they lie down on the floor. They feel comfortable like this and for us that's an easier job. Dogs in general don't like being touched on their legs (especialy the forelegs) and so by working on their hight instead of letting them stand on a table makes them more relaxed.

Toby is er helemaal ondersteboven van.   Toby zou liever wat in z'n mand gaan liggen.

When it's a long time since the feet were last cut, they look very hairy. The soles can't nearly be seen and there's a lot of hair between the toes. First we cut the hair that sticks out of the sole. The foot is immediately more compact.

Next we cut the hairs from the heel. And finaly the toes. Carefully we cut as much hair as possible from between the toes. The result is a nice, compact foot.
