There’s an old Hungarian saying that goes: “Nem kutya, es Puli”, which means: “It’s not a dog, it’s a Puli”. The Hungarians know their animals through and through. And yes, sometimes our own dogs behave in such a way, we get the impression they’re not dogs! But what we notice most is that they have a totally different character. Toby is lazy, Terry is very active; Toby doesn’t like sweet food, Terry is hungry for more;… etc.

Here are the most obvious differences between them.

Toby

Terry

I am save, Terry guards.

If anyone tries to get in the house, I'll...

Loves to lie cosy and warm in his bench, if it’s too warm he moves to the floor.

She likes to sit on top of the seat near the window and look at everything on the street.

If he’s at home he only barks when Terry does so.

She barks whenever there is danger, like a pedestrian passing by or something.

Toby doesn’t like to eat, especially nothing sweet. He nearly never begs for food.

She eats just about everything and she’s constantly begging (not at night). Everything means “cookie”.

He only has to think we’re looking at him to start wagging his tail.

Terry can’t wag her tail, at least she nearly never does it.

Toby is scared to death if our baby throws something on the floor. But he’s not afraid of the thunder.

If there is a thunderstorm, our otherwise so fearless Terry is ultra-nervous. The same with fireworks.

Taking part in a show is such an event. A lot of attention and a lot of other dogs. Woof woof.

What a fussiness. All those people who look at me and want to touch me. I don’t like it.

If it’s hot on the beach, he’ll dive in the water. Wow, what a refreshment.

Terry walks along the waterline, her paws may not get wet. Brrr, cold.

But after all our two Pulis are still great pals. They just can’t live without each other.

ZZZzzz... ZZZzzz... ZZZzzz...
