HEAVY METAL
SPK were one of the original metal groups, shocking audiences with
the heavy industrial equipment they used as "instruments".
But with their new single 'Junk Funk', they've opted for a less clamorous
approach that's more synth-pop a la Depeche Mode than Steptoe
And Son scrapyard banging.
Ironically their recent live show at London's prestigious ICA was stopped
due to safety fears over their welding equipment.
Clearly a case of SPK wanting their junk and funk...
