Being Earnest' in het Guthrie
Theatre in
Minneapolis, Minnesota (USA). Ter gelegenheid van haar vertolking werd
ze geïnterviewd door Mike
Binkley op de lokale zender
WCCO.
'The Importance of Being Earnest' is een komedie van de Ierse schrijver
Oscar Wilde. Het stuk werd voor het eerst opgevoerd in het St James's
Theatre in Londen in februari 1895. Het was het laatste toneelstuk dat
Wilde zou schrijven, en het wordt beschouwd als zijn beste dramawerk.
Het verhaal draait om twee jonge mannen, John (Jack) Worthing (Nick Mennell)
en Algernon Moncrieff (John
Skelley), en hoe zij het geluk vinden bij Gwendolen Fairfax (Heidi Armbruster)
en Cecily Cardew (Erin
Krakow). Belangrijker dan de plot is de karaktertekening,
vooral van Lady Bracknell (Linda Thorson), Miss Laetitia Prism (Suzanne Warmanen)
en Rev. Canon Frederick Chasuble (Richard
S. Iglewski).
