SalsaCrazy

What is this thing called salsa? Well, It's a couple dance, that is danced to latin-american music called salsa. What makes it so special to those that know how to dance it and to people that are learning to dance it, is the whole atmosphere created by the people frequentingf these bars is very social and pleasant. On what is so pleasant to dance with someone of the opposite sex in a couple dance, especially salsa, I guess I can best explain it with these words by Paul F. Clifford's 'Yambu: Dance as Sexual Pantomime', who explains how salsa should be danced:

The thought to hold, is that you are trying to seduce the lady but she is trying to refuse your advances. You push forward and she pushes you away. As you seem to have lost the battle, she titillates you with moves that suggest, you might get what you want but as in the real world, you probably won't get it! When you are dancing, look at your partner. Guys, you are the slave master, seduce her with your eyes. You want this girl! Girls, you're a slave girl, you can't deny the master but you can't demure to his wishes, you must resist him. Look him in the eye, defy him, make him accept your humanity, make him love you!'

As you can see: you're playing, seducing (or trying to anyway), dancing and all that is what makes it fun. To go out, dance, have fun, meet people,... Anybody can learn this, however, you will need to put some effort in it. Try some of the bars which are listed on this site and see how you like it. For anyone that is dancing already: this is the key, you're not competing, or it would have to be a competition to see who has the most fun.
