The European colour-ring Birding © site on www.cr-birding.be is created and maintained by raes.dirk@pi.be
With the help of Alain Fossé [LPO Anjou] I started, om 18-08 [my birthday] with an e-group on "colour-ring birding ".
You can free-subscribe to the colour-ring birding by mailing to cr-birding-subscribe@egroups.com and sending messages will be to cr-birding@egroups.com
The aim of this group is to exchange information/observations on colour-ringed birds for example between observers and projectleaders.
New is the pages with in several languages some ringing-related words [courtesy of Ingrid Balzer] or download from the webpage [http://www.fen-net.de/oag-mittelfranken] from Andreas Bernt.
Colour-marking is a valuable research technique for many studies : some concern behavioural research in a restricted area such as detailing the day-to-day activities of particular birds, while others are interested mainly in movements between areas of following and discovering the timing of seasonal migrations. The use of colour marks allows studies impossible by "conventional" ringing with a numbered metal ring by dispensing with the need to recapture birds to read the ring numbers. Just read this introduction
For the moment -01.06.2001 - 896 different cr-projects on 253 different birdspecies are here reported. Apart from this, some additional information on these projects under the form of text and/or internet sites, can be found.
Sail to this projects
ALL colourringed birds which are ringed or seen in the UK / Germany / The Netherlands /Italy and can be identified as individuals MUST be reported to the Ringing Unit at the BTO-Ringing Center / Helgoland Ringing Office / Vogeltrekstation Arnhem / Instituto Nazionale per la Fauna Selvatica (INFS).
An important message from the Icelandic Institute of Natural History.
This is a legal requirement and condition
of being issued with a license to colour-ring birds. Which ringing center
to contact? New is a the list of cr-coordinators.
Several projects, however, have escaped to my attention. It is in my intention to update European colour-ring Birding at regular intervals. Comments, amendments and supplements are welcome and should be addressed to me.
But please keep in mind that it's not my task to send your observation to the researcher. Just contact yourself the project-leaders (it's more rewarding), quoting this webpage.
As a service to the ringing centers
and colourring-bird researchers, this web-site offers to gather
information about the cr-schemes
in different pages.
The cr-mystery bird
page (untraced cr-birds) is online and waits for your answer.
Approved by some cr-ringers, a list
of colour-ring suppliers.
More on satellite-tagged birds and related links and a look on the latest position of some sat-tagged birds, including the incredible story of the Houbara Bustard.
Some world-wide contacts for cr-birds : for Antarctic , for shorebirds in the N. and S. US , for the other cr-birds in the US and a coordinates service on world coordinates
Visit the joint-venture site: European Ringing end Migration Studies
If you want to search a specific project, related to the colourringed
birds, just look into this list (based on Paleartic
Birds, a checklist of the Birds of Europe, North Africa and Asia
from Mark Beaman) and click the colourringed bird you are
looking for.
