note 1 : flying young birds are ringed in NW Italy by Alessandro Re and his colleagues of the local Regional Park since 2004 [code AA-AZ) and nestlings by Stefano Volponi in the Po-Delta since 2007 (code BA-BZ).

note 1: twelve young Ibises escaped from the Metelener Heide Bird Sanctuary in the Muenster-area, Germany. These birds have been hand-raised by the Austrian biologist Mr. A. Schneider [Konrad-Lorenz-Forschungsstelle für Ethologie, Oberösterreich] and are part of a study to determine methods and success of food search. The birds were part of a free-flight experiment.

note 3: some ring-details [first left, then right] on the birds with their name. Lili: white, KLF-yellow ; Lotte: white over black, KLF-yellow ; Suleika: dark-blue, KLF-yellow ; Mephisto: light-blue, KLW-yellow ; Werther: orange, KLF-yellow ; Hatem: yellow, KLF-black ; Hopi: yellow over light-blue, KLF-black and 5 juv. without rings.

note 2: 5 different types of combinations are used. AA/Am (2 rings on left leg, 1 ring over metal ring on right leg) ; AA/m ; m/AA ; A/Aam ; AAA/m ; m/AAA ; AAm/AA or AA/Aam.

note 3: some 80 to 180 birds are yearly ringed.

note 4: birds are ringed at the Grand-Lieu Lake, Loire-Atlantique, France, (47° 06' N, 001° 40' W) and in Brière.
