Q & A
LEARN MORE ABOUT VINCENT & RACING
Tell us Vincent, how did you got into motorsport?
V: "Everything began with indoorkarting, testing a lot, racing a lot. After I won several championships it was time to move to outdoor karting, 'the real thing'. Here I learnt the most, late braking, real and close racing, alertness. Year after year I learnt more and more, and after 5 years spent in outdoor karting I got a very nice opportunity to make the next step."
Now you're in the world of car racing, how did you get there?
V: "Well, it was a bit by coincidence actually.. During a karting race I got to know Jimmy Adriaenssens, one of Begian's top Seat Supercopa racing drivers. I asked him if it was possible if I could test the car. After he and the team said yes, I immediately started to prepare averything for my race license exam, required for the test. I immediately passed every test, and I was ready for the test. That test went so well that there was again a nice next step coming up.."
How did it go after that test?
V: "The team did a lot of effort to let me race in the car, but I first needed an upgrade for my license again. After a bit of searching, we found the Ford Fiƫsta Championship in Great Britain. If I could compete in these 2.0l cars, I could upgrade my license to be able to race with the Supercopa, which is an 2.0l turbo engined race car. I quickly got good results (podia) in these races and 1 week after the last race I could race with my new license in Belgian Touring Car Series. My first ever time on Spa-Francorchamps race track, but a very nice 6th and 4th place after my first touring car race, a very satisfying result, and great experience!"
Where do you see yourself in the future?
V: "I'd love to go further in touring cars, or GT racing in the future. I realise that F1 is not reachable anymore, but i'm extremely interested in racing in GT cars or Prototype cars, like Blancpain Endurance Series, Le Mans Series, or FIA GT."
