USSR: The series of mourning Lenin in 1924 by France Peschl (No. 495, March 2002)
As soon as his death was known, it was decided to issue a series of mourning in his honor.
The position was that the day of his funeral, the stamps will be available to the public.
This is Dubasov who made the drawing. The draw took place in lithography.
The speed of this program was that it was full of changes inks, paper.
However, it was possible to identify the varieties of drawing during this continuous printing.
January 27, 1924, this issue was on sale.

The stamp is black with a red frame. We distinguish four different draw.

The first three are recognized by the size of the outer frame, the fourth edition is serrated.

It seems that appeared after the imperf.

The series consists of four values: 3 kop, 6 kop, 12 kop and 20 kopecks.

The first draw of the frame outer dimensions of 20 x 25 mm.
This is by far the most rare, especially the 20 kop.

The second draw will distinque a frame 21.2 x 26.5 mm.
This is the most common.

The third printing has dimension 20.5 x 26 mm, so quite similar to the previous.

It should be noted that the Soviet catalog reverse the second and third runs.It also notes with 6 kop format 20.5 x 26.5.

The fourth drawing is serrated to 13.5.

The frame dimensions are those of the second drawing 20.5 x 26 mm. Yvert reports 12 kop with frame 21 x 26.5 mm.

There are false. They are characterized by two elements:
First, the right eye of Lenin (left for us) has only one white spot while two points are clearly visible in the real.

Then, the left ear of Lenin is represented by a thick line as the other ear.
It seems that these fakes are common, however, I've never met.
It is not common to successfully issue a series in such a short time.

Given the time, it was a feat. Although this series is encountered quite often in collections, it is rare to find there the first draw.
