Dancing " Boogie men "

The dancing "boogie men" as you find them on marvin3m.com , don't really move. They have flashers in their heads which light-up every time the slingshot is activated. In the original design their movement was connected to the slingshot mechanism. Therefor I have chosen to create this again. I've made a metal part which is connected to the slingshot, and put the " boogie men" on there.

Here you can see the original ' stationairy' design and the changes.

The " boogie-man " is sitting on a metal part which is screwed to the playfield. The slingshot works independent.

After this modification, the " boogie-man" is connected to the metal of the slingshot and will also move...

Usage:

Start with removing the slingshot mechanism. Unscrew it at the bottom of the playfield. Also remove the solenoid, this makes it more easy to work and it's not hard to do.

There are four screws to remove the slingshot solenoid. You also see the connector which connects the solenoid .

Once the solenoid is removed, it's easy to remove the 3 scews of the slingshot mechanism.

The metal part we attach to the slingshot arm is made from a metal plate. Sizes are 8 to 10mm. width and about 7cm. long. Thickness can be one to 2,5 mm, as long as it won't bend. I used the metal plate from an old relais.....

The relais contact

This part is usable, the 2 exisisting hole doens' matters ...

The metal made at the exact lenght. I also marked where I will bend it. Three holes have been drilled. Two at the bottom in the part which will be bended, and one at the top to which the Boogie man will be connected.

You should bend the metal part like this:

First 90 degrees, put it into a bench at the first sign (1,5 cm)

For the second ply, secure it with a small metal piece between it ,so you can get such small ply, I used a file...

The top part should be rotated 90 degrees. Then you can fix the boogie man with a screw.

To do this, put the piece in the bench and rotate with plyers..

Put the top of the metal part 1 cm in the bench, and turn it 90 degrees to the back.

Now drill 2 holes in the slingshot, so both pieces can be screwed together.

Use rivets or screws to secure both parts. If you use screws, use some glue (or lock-tight) to prevent them from become loose because of the vibrations.

Finished ! You can see the second bend is a bit more then 90 degrees and the boogie men comes on top of the slingshot. Assemble the slingshots again on the playfield and put the boogie man back on.

In the menu "Feature Adjustements" you have to set option A2.32 "Boogie Dancers" to "on" !!
