Heavy Law

Last years we have seen a comeback of melodic Hard Rock & Hard FM or Adult Oriented Rock (or whatever the label you attach to the style). We have seen new promising acts coming as HEAT, Brother Firetribe & Last Autumn's Dream. Survivors as Journey or TOTO also revealed the dynamism of the scene.

Frozen Rain is a new band around Kurt Vereecke (keyboard and bass). The album is the culmination of a long musical experience & and there's an impressive list of guests who appear on this disc (among them Tommy Denander, guitarist of Radioactive and Daniel Flores, drummer of Mind's Eye).

The band presents an album in the typical 80s style. I may say that the keyboards remind me to Van Halen. Sweet melodies and concise eruptive guitar solos lend to more smiles and relaxation as negative considerations. Close your eyes, friends, readers, you are in 1986, in Miami. You wear a mustache, Reebok shoes and a spangled jacket... The weather is beautiful, it is hot, the beach is nearby and you're watching a game of female volleyball from behind your sunglasses. You get the ideal position to listen to Frozen Rain. Listen to songs like 'Park Café' or 'Red Light Zone' and you will agree, friends, readers, that this kind of music lends itself easily to pleasant musings.

This sound, compelling and attractive, allows the disc to make its way without asperity. Songs like 'Music keeps me alive', 'On the Run' or 'Never Be a Fool Again' could be immediate hits. When listening to the music you can feel the passion and the love for the genre. The songs are masterly produced. Keyboards are everywhere and taste like sweet chocolate while the guitar work brings to mind the best achievements of Jim Peterik and sounds of Toto. When all these ingredients come together, it gives nice hits straight out of a soundtrack like for example 'Top Gun'.

To conclude, Frozen Rain offers a refreshing disc driven by the passion for AOR.
A professional and pleasant album that will please fans of the style.
