It all started back in 2002 when Kurt Vereecke decided
to make his dream come true by recording an AOR and melodic rock
album. During the recordings more and more musicians got involved
in the Frozen Rain project, including some of
Kurt's personal idols such as Tommy Denander
(Radioactive), Steve Newman (Newman) and Daniel
Flores (Mind's Eye). The first album came out in April
2008 and was very well received all over the world.
When Kurt met guitar player Rik
Priem at the end of 2007 both knew right away they had found
the perfect songwriting partner. At the same time Kurt's brother
Hans Vereecke decided to pick up his drum sticks
again. Keyboard player Jurgen Vitrier and bass
player Vincent De Laat (who both played on the
first album too) joined the guys and the new Frozen Rain was born.
The only thing they still needed was a singer with a very powerful
voice to sing on the second album.
It was Kurt's friend Pierpaolo 'Zorro' Monti who
suggested Kurt to try out German singer Carsten
'Lizard' Schulz who had just done an amazing job
on the Shining Line album. Kurt started talking
to Carsten and presented him the new songs. Carsten was very interested
to work with the band and the last missing link was found. You
can hear the result on the second Frozen Rain album 'Ahead
of Time'. The album was mixed by the well known Alessandro
Del Vecchio and mastered by Dennis Ward.
At this moment all the material for a third album is written and
the band has started to record the first songs. While the second
album had a heavier feel the new album goes more in the direction
of pure AOR again, a bit in the style of the first album. We think
we have written some of our best songs and can't wait to let them
hear to you all.
