Welcome to the Folgazán site!
Folgazán is a Belgian folk-rock-pop band that widely crosses
the borders of traditional folk music. Next to violin, flutes, accordion
and piano you will find acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitar
and drums, easily mixing elements of contemporary pop and rock music
with typical Irish tunes and other Celtic or gipsy influences. Folgazán
always plays varying concerts containing catching dancing tunes,
rock songs with a folk sound, delicate melodies with a jazzy folk-touch
and cheerful party songs. Mostly sung by male and female voice in
English (or Dutch), sometimes purely instrumental.
In 2007 Folgazán ended up second in the finals of the Dranouter
Folk Contest. Folgazán also played their first concert abroad:
the audience of the Misty Fields Festival in Holland was happily
surprised to discover this energetic band from Belgium. In 2008 the band confirmed their growing live reputation with a successful gig at Labadoux, the second largest folk
festival in Belgium. 2009 promises to confirm the band's popularity with the launch of a music clip and several Summer festival gigs.
Welcome to the Folgazán world!
