| On March the 19th 2005 we visited
Wesel and Hamminkeln in Germany to see the landing zones
of operation Varsity on March the 24th in 1945. Out of the book "Die Luftlandung" about operation Varsity, which is issued by the village of Hamminkeln we visited the same spots as on the old pictures from the book. In the church of Hamminkeln we lighted some candles and we met a very kind gentleman there who promised us to make the church pastor remember the operation in his next prayers the Thursday just before Eastern as Varsity will be exactly 60 years ago. |
