“Il Trionfo del Tempo” was created at the request of Mr. Stefan Dewitte, former Director of the Festival “Musica Antiqua Bruges”. He asked Jan Van Elsacker to create a program around the theme “Orfeus” that in August 2007 would be brought during the festival of Bruges.
This demand of Stefan was a good opportunity for Jan to have an intense cooperation with Bart Rodyns, a good friend of him with who he has done many great projects, including “Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda” of Monteverdi (concert tour through Flanders and the Netherlands).
The very first performance of Il Trionfo del Tempo with the title “Il Canto d'Orfeo” had a great succes and it was positive welcomed by the public and press.
Those successes repeated in more concerts in the Netherlands.
Il Trionfo del Tempo had very quick the opportunity to show themselve at other festivals such as “Laus Polyfoniae” in Antwerp. During the next season Il Trionfo del Tempo will bring “Il Canto d'Orfeo” in the Netherlands (Utrecht Early Music Network).
The core of the ensemble exists of Jan Van Elsacker, Bart Rodyns, Maia Silberstein and Liesje Vanmassenhove. Occasionally they are extended by established values as Doron David Sherwin, Simen Van Mechelen, Paulina Van Laarhoven, Thomas Boysen, Griet Cornelis, Claire Lefilliâtre and Michaela Riener.
Il Trionfo del Tempo wants to profile themselve as an ensemble that deals with music in which the text is very important. That is why they’ve chosen in this very beginning for the early Italian Baroque.
