Buthe, Michael
Michael Buthe (Sonthofen, 1944 - Cologne, 1994) was a German painter, sculptor and environmental artist. From 1964 to 1967 he studied art at the Werkkunstschule Kassel. Thereafter he studied at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf as master student of Joseph Beuys. From 1985 to his death 1994 he worked as a professor at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. His first journey to Morocco in 1970 was decisive for the course of his artistic development, and thereafter Marrakesh was his second home. At Documenta 5 in Kassel (1972) Buthe was one of the artists whose work was grouped under the heading of 'Individuelle Mythologien'. He was also present at Documenta 7.

Signed in pencil. 135 pages, hard bound with dust jacket in cardboard slipcase. Tear of about 1.5 centimeter in dust jacket on backside of bottom side dusk jacket. Tannert, Volker
Volker Tannert (Recklinghausen, 1955) is a German painter, sculptor, and printmaker, and is one of the most important representatives of the ‘Neuen Wilden’ (Heftige Malerei) a neo-expressionistic European movement of the 80ties tied to the German expressionism of the 1920ties. From 1975 to 1979 he was a student of Gerhard Richter and Klaus Rinke. Tannert won several art prizes, was present on the most important exhibitions of the Wild Painters in the early 80ties, and at documenta 7 in 1982. His work is included in public and private collections. His work contains daily artifacts, often damaged tools or furniture, ruines or fallen down trees, that illustrate the (negative) effect of mankind on nature or the climat.
