Everything started in 1993. Vira had owned a 2 horse power car for several years. With tears in her eyes she had to say farewell to it after so many years of service. At a flea market at Ramsel (Belgium) she bought an identical scale model. Then her urge to collect 2 HP's and all the other Citroëns that came with it began. One thing lead to another. When there were no Citroëns for sale one day, she bought a beautiful bus and so she started her collection busses. With
Roger everything started in 1997 when he met Vira and didn't knew what he was
doing on those flea markets. To have something to do and the fact that he
drove a Renault, he started his collection of Renault miniature cars. As
the findings at the market dropped, he started a second collection: old-timers. Important about our collection is that we practically never buy new cars. Almost all cars are used and we bought them on flea markets or markets where children sell their toys. So you can see that such a collection can be very cheap. When you trade with others, you can get a whole collection together. During
the basic lessons FrontPage of Microsoft at the internet course at Saint Josef's
College in Aarschot (Belgium) the idea came to create a website about model
cars. Because I had no digital camera available, I had to find another
solution to digitalize the cars. After several disappointing attempts to
solve everything with a scanner, there finally came a positive result.
Every car that you could admire on our site was scanned with a HP5100C-scanner on
150 dpi. To project enough light on the cars, I put together a box with aluminium
foil taped on the inside and a bright paper as background. This
box was placed over every car while scanning. This monks work resulted in a
whole bunch of pretty pictures. The homepage and the photo grids are completely designed in Corel 8. All the cars are from our collection and the cartoon on the entry-page was drawn on a market in Avignon (France). It has a place above my computer. (Just click on it !!!) Attention Also we would like to have your opinion on this site. What do you think about it? Got any advise to make it better? Do you know other URL's about model cars? All reactions are welcome. If you are interested in what we collect or do you have anything to say in connection with our website, you can always mail us on: |
