Description Independent artists seeking studio practice will be given access to workspace to regularly to observe and paint or draw from life or cast figures. Participants work in the medium of their choice and will be welcomed on all levels and artistic merit. However they are expected to abide by common courtesies and studio etiquette, posted and explained in the first session. Any exceptions will be kindly asked not to return without refund.
Work Space , located near
Brussels has northern exposure and ammenities conducive to a modern
drawing studio. basic amenities water basin, toilet facilities,
lighting, electricity, heating but not very efficient. Dress in layers.
( NON-SMOKING INDOORS , TERRACE AVAILABLE )

Materials provided include lighting, music, model platform, drapery,
dressing screen, costume props, limited number of easels on
a first come first serve basis. Participants should have minimally a
drawing board, clips to hold paper in place, wet or dry media,
paper and an appropriate support-paper, canvas, etc.
Pauses The model will have intermittent rest
pauses during each sesson which by nature will always include several
short poses and one long pose. The model is
dedicated to the class, therefore artist can continue work from session
to session if desired.
Refreshments There
are no dining facilities or vending machines, thus BYO..

One of the best models I ever had was a man I saw on the street, basically a stranger, that I asked to pose for me. I thought he had an interesting face. As it turns out , this man could sit for hours without moving. I had to force him to take breaks and then or even when he moved he would apologize! He was extremely rare and could hold a pose longer than anyone could imagine possible. --stated during in a conference for artists by Daniel Greene, author of The Art of Pastel, which has been reprinted 16 times in a number of languages. He is inducted into three of the highest artist halls of fame attainable in the US. He started out doing portraits on the sidewalks of Miami while a teenager. ---Daniel Greene

MODELS
It is an artist's luxury to have at one's disposal an excellent and dedicated model. A model of pleasant disposition, who is able to hold the long pose or change readily for quick poses at the beginning of each session is highly esteemed and will be asked to return for consecutive sessions.
The model's comfort is of greatest importance. How one is posed -- draped or not-- is somewhat climate and dictated.
Artists will be free to derive different ideas for their work with the luxury of a live model in a series of sessions with the same model per five week session. If the model is hindered, a replacement will be arranged either from the class or from a waitlist.
