IMMERSION for ABSLOUTE
BEGINNERS n IMPROVERS
DRAWING I
DESCRIPTION Explore line and proportion to render objects, compositions, perspective and portrait/figure correctly and accurately, as precursor to painting in a classical tradition. Learn vocabulary of terms and about basic materials that result in accomplished proper critique and a joy of self teaching after the class is over. Complete short exercises to learn drawing technique in small steps that accumulate to a unit of skills for the last day's finished drawing.
MATERIALS
simple black and white media--pencil and paper, kneaded rubber eraser, 2H,
4B, 6B graphite pencils, one sheet of professional acid free paper, medium
weight drawing paper with a SMOOTH SURFACE which allows charcoal to be wiped off
with no residue left on the paper-- preferably hand-milled with watermark
from Hammermill, Arches, Fabriano Lana, Twin Rocker etc.
PREPARATION To first class bring one non-perishable object from
home with an interesting but not too complicated contour, the paper described
above and one drawing you have already completed to show your current skills to
the instructor. (22 x 30 Imperial size, i.e. smooth surfaced paper
such as Check out the links page in this site for more paper
suggestions.
RECOMMENDED
Be able to write cursively, devote five
consecutive days to attend all classes or make up exercises before next class,
reading on linear perspective
IMPORTANT
This course is
prerequisite
for all
other DnD studio
courses in the hope of maintaining a higher learning curve in short time by
not repeating fundamentals or similar assignment in courses with
advanced topics. Prospective students can waive the requirement by
demonstrate similar knowledge to the instructor.

Many of the course exercises are available to Dutch/ Flemish or French
Registrants must allow five consecutive days for maximum effectiveness
Three specific exercises assigned from the instructor are asked to be completed before the class commences to get the before and after effect . See student show.
