The opening weekend of my first Expo was a success ! I had a great time and enjoyed getting some feedback from the visitors. Thanks to everyone who showed up! The Expo is still open everyday from 10.00 hrs until 17.00 hrs ( free entrance ). I will be present during most weekends ( in the afternoon ) to sign my book "The Seventh Serpent". The past few weeks I've been working on a book featuring all my most important artworks from the last decade. This book, entitled "The Seventh Serpent", will be released at the opening of the Expo in Antwerp at 14 /01/2005 ! It will be a limited release of only 400 copies ( signed & numbered, 96 pages in full color ) ! The intention of the book is mainly to offer an overview of my best works from the past 10 years. There will be opening words from Wim Baelus, Filip Keunen and Father Vik ( Lugburz ) and a few liner notes from some of the bands that I've worked for ( Absu, Melechesh, ... ).

My original artworks are not for sale, so this book should be seen as an alternative for people who want to buy my art. It is not intended as a commercial release but as an effort to meet the demand for my artworks.  

Most of the artworks have been scanned again ( or for the first time ) in high resolution. Parts that were cut from the releases as CD or LP covers are restored... Some artworks are featured in their entirety for the first time. Colors have not been altered or tampered with.

"The Seventh Serpent" will be available at the Exposition on the dates that I am personally present ( please check out the Expo section ). It will also be possible to order it from me personally by writing to me at  krisverwimp@tiscali.be.

At this time the book is still being printed. More info about prices, etc. will be posted as soon as possible !

10 Years Ago : The Saga Of The Serpent God.

Ten years from now I started doing my first record covers. During the same year I also devoted a lot of time to the development of "The Saga Of The Serpent God". This saga is a prequel as wel as a sequel concept for the Odoric saga. It tells the tale of the rise and fall of the Serpent God : the first wielder of the Black Serpent Sword of Odoric.

If you click on the ancient serpent symbol, you will find the "Saga Of The Serpent God" section updated with new information and images.

I'm still constructing this new website, while I'm expecting the Warpage to disappear after tomorrow. If you haven't done it already, please update your links. I haven't completed any new artworks at this point; however I'm working hard on new covers for Vindsval, Axamenta, and Pandemia. I've been very busy creating a new website during the past few weeks. At the moment it's still far from finished, but as soon as it is 70% ready, I'll announce the new address here. The new site will feature separate sections for each band that I've worked for and there will also be separate sections about my logo desings, illustrations, etc... Of course, the Odoric pages will be present again and they will be updated with new images.

In the meantime I've also been creating two new artworks for Marduk's limited box ( to be released in oktober ).

I also did a book cover for the German release of Andrea N. Haugen's ( Hagalaz Runedance ) book " The Ancient Fires Of Midgard". The book will be released by Second Sight Books.

The band released one album on Mascot/Two Moons records. Currently they are looking for a new label to release their CD "The End Of The Dark Ages". Expect brilliant and highly original Epic Fantasy-Death Metal with a magnificent production !!

Finally some Odoric news!

At the moment I'm drawing some new pages of the second Odoric chapter. The
next few weeks I will be working out the layouts of the final pages as well!
I started working on this book back in '96 so I'm happy to announce that the
end is finally in sight. Unfortunately, the book is done in black and white,
which means that when it is finished, I will have to start at the beginning
again to add the colours. In stead of using a faster way of adding the
colours, I decided to paint the entire book again like I did with "The Wall
Of Doom", so this process will still take at least a year! It's possible
though, that there will also be a Black & White version released somewhere
in time...

 I will update this site with some previews as soon as the new pages are
completed.

In the meantime I'm also busy with a new cover artwork for Dagorlad and a
T-shirt design for Marduk.

Last week also saw the release of the new Shadowbreed Album on Painkiller

The CD-cover artwork for Belgian Black/Death Metal band Mystica is finally completed. I had been working on this one for quite a while. The CD will soon be released by Painkiller records.

Last week I received the Incinerator MCD "Thrash Attack". It was released by Soundriot a few months ago. If you are into 80's Thrash Metal you should contact them at soundriot@uol.com.br to order this CD. Bandmember Lenny Blade ( Vocals & Bass ) is now in Hypnosia as well!

Today I received a copy of the split LP of underground Black Metal bands Moonblood and Deathspell Omega. I created the LP-cover artwork for Moonblood back in 1998 and I never expected to hear from it again, because the band doesn't exist anymore. The album is released by EAL Productions and Sombre Records. It is limited to only 350 copies! Anyone who is interested should try to write to EAL@wanadoo.fr or Sombre Records, Wiesenweg 13, 09456 Mildenau/erz., Germany.

Today I received the picture 7" "Suicide" from Flauros. The print is of very high quality. The two songs on this release are superb - catchy and original Black Metal from Finland. The first Thyrfing CD-cover, one of those paintings that seems to lead it’s own life, was used as a cover for the new "Viking-special" issue of the respected Dutch fantasy magazine "Elf Fantasy". Unfortunately, the magazine is available only in Holland and Belgium. Please click on the cover to link to the Elf Fantasy site for more information.

The artwork started out as a design for a compilation tape many years ago but ended up as the cover for the classical Thyrfing debut album that was released in 1997. The painting is titled "Asgards Reisen" and it was also used as the cover of a Hammerheart Records Mailorder Catalog and the Picture Disc version of Thyrfing’s CD.
