Cette Brebbia, datant des années 70, bien qu’elle ne soit pas marquée comme « straight grain » aurait pu revendiquer une telle indication. A part deux petites brûlures à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur du rebord son état est impeccable. Une occasion exemplaire.

This Brebbia, dating from the seventies, was not marked as a “straight grain” but it could have received this indication. Despite two small burning spots on the inner and outer side of the rim this very pipe is in vintage estate. A real bargain.

Deze Brebbia, daterend van de 70ger jaren,  werd niet gemarkeerd als een “straight grain” maar dat had het geval kunnen zijn. Behalve twee brandplekjes op de buiten- en binnenkant van de boord, verkeert deze pijp in perfecte staat. Een echt koopje.

Chaque pipe de la série « Grand cru » de Chacom est garantie « entièrement faite à la main par notre créateur », et cela est vrai car il n’y en a pas deux qui soient semblables et elles sont faites à partir de plateaux de bruyère corse de qualité supérieure. Cependant celle-ci apparaît dans la section « occasions » à cause d’une petite brûlure au rebord. Et étonnant mais elle présente aussi un petit défaut dans la bruyère que j’ai encerclé sur une des photos. Voici une occasion de posséder une Grand ’Cru à petit prix. Malgré les deux imperfections signalées ci-dessus c’est une très belle pipe !

Each pipe of the « Grand cru » collection, by Chacom, is guaranteed as « Completely free hand by our designer »; it’s true because no one is similar to another. They are made from high quality Corsican briar. However this one appears in my section “occasions” because of a small burning on the rim. And curiously the briar shows a small default that I put in a circle on one of the photos. A good opportunity to own a Grand ’Cru at a bargain price. Despite of the two imperfections, its remains a beautiful pipe!

Elke pijp uit de serie “Grand Cru” van Chacom is gegarandeerd als “Volledig met de hand gemaakt door onze ontwerper” ; dat is waar want geen twee zijn dezelfde. Ze zijn gemaakt van hoogwaardige Corsicaanse bruyère. Nochtans verschijnt deze in mijn rubriek “koopjes” vanwege een brandplekje op de boord. En verrassend genoeg vertoont zij ook een foutje in de bruyère dat ik omcirkeld heb op een van de foto’s. Uw gelegenheid een Grand ’Cru te bezitten aan een spotprijsje. Ondanks deze negatieve dingen blijft het een mooie pijp !

Voici une parfaite occasion : une pipe dans un bon état, une belle bruyère une forme agréable, mais des traces de chocs sur le rebord. De toute évidence, son ancien propriétaire avec la mauvaise habitude de tapoter sa pipe sur une surface dure après le fumage pour la vider !

A perfect bargain: a pipe in a good estate, with a nice briar and a pleasant shape, but some marks of hurts on the rim. Certainly the former owner had the bad habit to knock his pipe on a hard surface to empty it!

Een reusachtige pijp, de echte “huis pijp”. Ondanks de tandensporen moet de steel niet vervangen wordt. Toch bied ik deze pijp als een koopje aan, voor nauwelijks de prijs van het hout. Er schijnt een beetje licht tussen schacht en mondstuk.

Cette Stanwell présente un fourneau extra large. Regardez le diamètre intérieur ! Cette pipe peut cependant être parfaitement fumée telle qu’elle est.

Une agréable « Prince » dont l’inscription est plutôt faible mais reste lisible. Bien que cette pipe soit classée « cinq étoiles » par son fabricant, on remarque deux petits défauts sur le devant du fourneau (cerclés de rouge sur les photographies).

Voici une Churchwarden fabriquée par Masta Patent Pipe Co offerte au prix du fourneau. À la dernière minute, j’ai découvert une minuscule fissure dans le tuyau en travers la lentille. On peut parfaitement fumer la pipe comme elle est ou l’on peut faire remplacer le tuyau… En tout cas elle vaut la peine cette belle churchwarden qui n’a été que peu fumée et qui a sans doute été un modèle d’exposition vu la légère décoloration du bois sur l’arrière du fourneau.

Here we have a Churchwarden made by Masta Patent Pipe Co offered at the price of the bowl. At the last minute I discovered a hairline crack cross passing the lip. This pipe could be perfectly smoked as it is, but you may replace the stem. Anyway this very pipe is worthy. It has hardly been smoked and was probably used as a demonstration model considering the lightly blemishing part at the back of the bowl.

Ziehier een Churchwarden gemaakt door Masta Patent Pipe Co aangeboden aan de prijs van de kop. Op ’t laatste moment ontdekte ik een haarfijn scheurtje in de lip. De pijp is perfect te roken als zij is. Anderzijds valt een vervanging van het mondstuk te overwegen. In ieder geval is ze het waard want zij werd nauwelijks gerookt. Vermoedelijk gaat het hier om een demonstratie pijp uit het uitstalraam rekening houdende met de verbleking van de achterzijde van de kop.

« Usée mais pas abusée », voici comment j’aime à décrire ce genre de pipes. Une belle pipe portant fièrement son âge. Il y a quelques traces de chocs et quelques masticages. Les nombreuses photographies vous diront tout. Cette marque a produit de bonnes fumeuses.

Gebruikt maar niet misbruikt. Dat blijf ik zeggen over dit soort pijpen. Een trotse pijp die met gratie de sporen van haar ouderdom draagt. Er zijn enkele slagjes in het hout, enkele vullinkjes en een brandplekje op de voorzijde van de kop. Men kan het allemaal vaststellen op de foto’s.

Een Belgische uit het verleden, klein en elegant. Te vergelijken met een groep 3. Deze pijp werd inderdaad gerookt maar is in zeer goede staat. Dus waarom vinden we haar bij de “Occasies” ? Terwijl ik ze klaarmaakte stelde ik een klein verschil vast van 0,40 mm tussen schacht en steel ; nauwelijks zichtbaar, maar…

Voici une très belle Dunhill qui a dû être réparée : la tige a été brisée et a du être remise en place ; pour l’assurer, elle a été munie d’une bague. La fissure s’étant produite juste avant le D de Dunhill, la réparation a partiellement effacé une partie des chiffres d’identification, ce qui ne permet pas de dater cette pipe, mais elle n’est pas vraiment récente. En tout cas, voici une intéressante occasion à la moitié du prix de cette pipe en estate.

A very nice Dunhill but repaired. The shank was broken and had to be repaired; a metal ring was added to strength the pipe. As the crack occured just after the D of Dunhill, part of the identification number was rubbed and we have, now, no possibility to identify the year when this very pipe was made, but it is not a recent one. Well, a good bargain for half the price of a Dunhill estate!

Une belle et ancienne « Pebble Grain » de Comoy’s, particulièrement légère. La raison pour laquelle cette pipe est devenue une occasion réside dans le fait que la jonction entre le tuyau et la tige n’est pas absolument parfaite : il y a un petit jour du côté droit. On note également un tout petit défaut à l’intérieur du rebord, à peine plus large qu’un puits de sable. Mais c’est néanmoins une excellente pipe.

A nice old feather weight “Pebble Grain” from Comoy’s. This pipe became an “occasion” because the junction stem shank is not for a 100% perfect. It leaves a fraction of light on the right side. There is also a tiny mark, something like a sandpit on the inner side of the rim. But, in the end, this very pipe is definitely an excellent one!

Mooie oude Pebble Grain veder gewicht van Comoy’s. De reden waarom deze pijp een “occasie” werd: de aanpassing tussen mondstuk en schacht is niet 100% perfect. Ze laat een vleugje lucht langs de rechterzijde. Er is een foutje langs de binnenkant van de boord, nauwelijks groter dan een fors zandputje. Desondanks betreft het hier een zeer goede pijp.

Très belle cette Stanwell, dans sa livrée du soir ; il y a quelques traces d’usage qui n’enlèvent rien à l’élégance de ce modèle « Soirée » ou « Dress », idéale en smoking jacket…

Mooie Stanwell in "avondkledij" ; er zijn enkele gebruiksporen maar dat maakt de elegantie van dit "Soirée" of "Dress" model niet ongedaan.

Et voici la fameuse Comoy’s Blue Riband en occasion. Sa réputation est même supérieure à celle de la Grand Slam. Comme vous pouvez le voir sur les images, cette pipe est dans un très bon état ; la bruyère est magnifique mais elle présente sur le rebord quelques traces d’usage, une petite brûlure et il y a un minime éclat au tuyau. Voici les raisons pour lesquelles elle est offerte en occasion. L’estampage est faible mais lisible.

And now introducing the famous Comoy’s Blue Riband, as a bargain. Its reputation goes beyond the Grand Slam. As the pictures do show, this pipe is in a excellent estate; the briar is magnificent, but there are some little dings from use, especially on the rim, also a little burning, and there’s a minor scratch on the mouthpiece. That’s why I’m offering it at a bargain price. Nomenclature has fainted but is readable.

En de befaamde “Blauwe Wimpe” van Comoy's, als een koopje. Haar reputatie reikt nog over die van de Grand Slam.. Zoals de foto’s tonen is deze pijp in een uitstekende toestand; de bruyère is prachtig, maar er zijn enkele gebruikssporen onder andere op de boord en een brandplekje en een minieme kras op het mondstuk. Dat is waarom ik haar aanbied als een koopje. De stempeling is zwak maar leesbaar.

Une occasion de chez Savinelli. Le tuyau n’est pas l’original mais celui d’une Punto Oro, et il est un peu gros par rapport à la tige… Cela explique que cette pipe soit offerte au prix de la bruyère, mais elle est tout à fait fumable en l’état ; il y a un tout petit défaut dans la bruyère de la tige.

A bargain from Savinelli. The stem is not the original one but coming from a Punto Oro and is a little bit larger than the shank… This is why this pipe is sold for just the price of the bowl, but it is definitely ready to be smoked; there is a tiny mark on the briar of the shank.

Een koopje van bij Savinelli. De steel is niet origineel maar komt van een Punto Oro en is een fractie dikker dan de schacht. Daarom biedt ik ze aan voor de prijs van de kop. De pijp is echter perfect te roken in de staat waarin ze is. Er is een klein foutje in de bruyère van de schacht.

Une GBD de forme très classique qui date de l’époque où la marque était encore fabriquée à Saint-Claude. On notera la fort belle bruyère pour cette pipe qui présente un masticage sur le talon du fourneau et sur le rebord.

Een GBD met een klassieke vorm, uit de tijd waarin deze merknaam werd gemaakt in Saint-Claude. Let u op de prachtige bruyère met slechts twee vullingen, een op de bodem van de kop en de andere op de boord.
