Short presentation

This remarkably modern, nearly austere building, houses a small community of six "Mariazusters van Franciscus" who lead a contemplative life. Through their prayers, their most essential contribution to humanity, the sisters try to offer their support to the outside world in general. Apart from this, they welcome all kinds of guests in the abbey who long to enjoy the utter rest and the peaceful atmosphere of this oasis of silence and prayer, situated in an exceptionally beautiful landscape. As long as they are willing to follow the structure of the daily routine of prayers and meals the guests are free to fill their days the way they want: reading, reflecting, praying, resting...

Meditation

Every Monday at 19h30 a meditation-group, member of the World Community for Christian Meditation meets in the church of the abbey to meditate. (external link)

  • by car:
    follow motorway E17 (Ghent-Antwerp) and take exit 13 Waasmunster.Turn right on the (N....)in the direction of Waasmunster,
    ± about 400m further you take the first road on your right (direction Abbey Roosenberg). The entrance to the abbey is on your left.
  • by public transport:
    - either take the train to Sint-Niklaas, then the bus (one per hour) to Waasmunster and then you have to walk for about 20'
    - or take the train to Lokeren and then "belbus" 70 (book trip in advance at 09 210 94 94). The belbus stops right in front of the abbey.
